A session on “Research or Scientific Misconduct: Fabrication, Falsification and Plagiarism” by Prof (Dr.) Ramesh C. Gaur was conducted on 10th March 2021 in IIIT Lucknow. Prof. Gaur discussed various aspects of misconduct in research and how one can follow ethical practices in research. He emphasized the issue of increasing plagiarism in research and its consequences. He suggested various methods of how to avoid plagiarism by providing correct citations while summarizing, paraphrasing, and quoting excerpts from prior research. The session was followed by an interactive Q&A round where the queries of the participants were addressed by him.
Prof (Dr.) Ramesh C. Gaur is presently Dean, Director (Lib. & Inf.) & Head Kalanidhi Division at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, Ministry of Culture, Govt of India. He has played a pivotal role in creating awareness, education and training on and about Research Publication Ethics particularly on Plagiarism in India. He is affiliated with CSIR Plagiarism Committee, NDA Plagiarism Committee, Plagiarism Committee, JNU and TURNITIN -anti plagiarism tools. He was the member of University Grant Commission –MHRD committee for drafting of UGC Regulations, 2018.
